OBJECTIVE • Designing a plan for the organization of a qualitative Hotel Management and Energy Audit Training workshop for the Gambia Hotel Association;
• Needs assessment concerning the development of an International Cultural event as an instrument for extending the tourist season in The Gambia and as added value for destination marketing to the primary markets.

DESCRIPTION Research in the context of the development of diversified products (away from the image of cheap “sun-sea-beach” winter destination) so that the destination’s competitive position could improve in response to the recent decrease in the number of tourists, especially from her largest markets in Europe, namely Germany, the Netherlands, and especially the United Kingdom.

Research report: In February 2009, the results of the research of the needs and action plans designed with all local partners, were delivered to the CDE.
